SWMC began to confer Master’s Degree in 1993 and began to confer Master’s Degree for the equivalently qualified inservice applicants in 2000.In 2003,it became unit to confer Master’s Degree in Clinical Medicine In 2013, SWMC was in the first group of selected universities in the reform of master’s training mode in Clinical Medicine.After 20 years of development, it has made great progress in the discipline construction, academic leader cultivation and academic team construction,postgraduate supervisor team construction, postgraduate training base construction, scientific research and so on.SWMC has 7 first class disciplines for conferring master’s degrees, 42 secondary disciplines for conferring master’s degrees,7 units for conferring a professional degree.There are more than 600 postgraduate supervisor,1500 postgraduate students on campus. Since 2001, SWMC has carries out joint doctoral training work with universities including Chongqing Medical University, Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine,Macau University of Science and Technology.

Since 1995,SWMC has enrolled postgraduates for 22 batches.Since 1998,there are more than 3400 regular enrollment postgraduates graduated,with a total of 19 batches.With the development of postgraduate education,the strength in running university has been growing along with social influence, social reputation and ability of management.The enrollment and employment of postgraduate students have shown a good trend.After graduation,the postgraduate students mostly choose to work in the institutions of higher learning,scientific research institutes,Class A-Grade III city-level hospitals or above and Affiliated hospitals of medical universities and colleges.
