Recently, the signing ceremony of Strategic Cooperation and the launching ceremony of Precision Medical Research Center among Southwest Medical University, the Affiliated Hospital of SWMU and University of Macau were held in the conference room on the fourth floor of the Surgical Building of the Affiliated Hospital of SWMU. Prof. Liao Bin, Secretary of SWMU Party Committee, attended the signing ceremony.
At the launching ceremony, Prof. Zhao Wei, President of University of Macao, Prof. Deng Chuxia from Health Science College, Prof. Liao Bin, Secretary of SWMU Party Committee, Prof. Du Yihua, Director of the Affiliated Hospital of SWMU, jointly unveiled the Precision Medical Research Center, and a signing ceremony was also held successively. President Zhao Wei and Prof. Liao Bin, Secretary of SWMU Party Committee, signed a “Agreement on Joint Doctoral Promotion Programme of the University of Macau and Southwest Medical University”, and the three leaders signed a “Tripartite Agreement on the Cooperation Framework between Southwest Medical University, the Affiliated Hospital of SWMU and University of Macau” as well. Thus, it marked the formally establishment of the partnership and the “Precision Medical Research Center of University of Macau, Southwest Medical University, and the Affiliated Hospital of SWMU” (hereinafter to be referred as the “Precision Medical Center”), aiming to contribute to the development of precision medicine and public health through the complementary advantages of the three parties.
President Zhao Wei said that precision medicine is an important direction for the 21st century medical industry. SWMU and the Affiliated Hospital have a wealth of experience and resources in clinical diagnosis and treatment, and combined with strong basic research strength of Health Sciences College of UM, the precision medical center will make more contributions to the general public health.
Prof. Liao Bin, Secretary of SWMU Party Committee, pointed out that precision medical treatment is an innovation of traditional medical model. It is a new medical concept and model based on individualized medical treatment, which was developed by the rapid progress of genome sequencing technology and the cross-application of biological information and large data science. It enables to achieve the personalized precise treatment to disease and specific patients, thus improve the diagnosis and treatment for disease and effectiveness of prevention. The precision medical center aims to promote the overall medical level regionally by the cooperation of UN with strong scientific research strength, and the Affiliated Hospital of SWMU with abundant clinical diagnosis and treatment resources.
