Recently, Chen Xiaoping, academician of CAS, professor, doctoral supervisor and the head of Huazhong University of Science and Technology Tongji Medical College, Tongji Hospital surgery department was signed by the affiliated hospital as the premier scientist. The signing ceremony was held in the conference room of surgical building in the hospital. Ma Zonghui, the vice mayor of LuZhou city attended the ceremony and HeYan, principal of our university delivered a speech. Du Yihua, the director of the affiliated hospital and academician Chen Xiaoping also signed a collaboration agreement of developing the “Workstation of academician Chen Xiaoping”.
Chen Xiaoping spoke highly of the affiliated hospital of Southwest Medical University at the appointment ceremony, from the perspectives of scale, creative consciousness and so on. He thus expressed that he was delighted to be able to join this professional team. Du Yihua later mentioned that the built of the academician workstation was based on the approval of academician Chen Xiaoping and the aim of it is to bring new foreign technology, help with the disciplinary construction of the hospital, cultivate talent personnel, formulate an overall construction plan of specialized subject and strive to develop the overall level of the field of hepatobiliary and pancreatic to the first-class domestically.
After the ceremony, Chen Xiaoping was invited to visit the department of hepatobiliary surgery in the affiliated hospital and he also delivered a lecture, named ”Behave, Work, Study-Being as a Good Doctor” to over 300 people, who mainly came from affiliated hospital, affiliated hospital of traditional Chinese medicine, affiliated hospital of stomatology, the people’s hospital of Luzhou and traditional Chinese medicine hospital of Luzhou.
In the lead of the department of hepatobiliary of the affiliated hospital, the establishment of the workstation also involves a reorganization of the department of gastroenterology, nuclear medicine, oncology and gastrointestinal surgery, among others. Besides, the key project of the workstation is to study the basis of hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases and clinical and translational applications. Chen will instruct and help the affiliated hospital of Southwest Medical University with many works, such as to finish the application of authorization for doctorate degree, the construction of academician workstation, the launch of organ transplantation works, as well as the disciplinary construction of the affiliated hospital of Southwest Medical University and its applications of national level researches and achievements. He would also assist to provide clinical instructions and help with exchange and training of talent personnel.
