On August 26, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) issued the Notice on the Review Results of Projects Submitted under the 2026 National Natural Science Foundation of China Funding Program. As of now, 54 projects have been approved for funding, with RMB 19.07 million in direct funding awarded to the university. Among these, 39 are Youth Science Fund (Category C) projects and 15 are General Program projects. Both the number of funded projects and the amount of funding have reached record highs.

The projects approved for funding cover multiple research fields, including medicine, life sciences, chemistry, and public health, fully demonstrating the basic research capabilities of the university’s researchers. They also highlight the strong innovation vitality of the university’s young research team and represent an important stage of progress in advancing organized research and strengthening the integration of medicine, education, and research.

The university attaches great importance to the organization of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) funding applications and actively promotes an elite-oriented cultivation model for funding applications to support the development of young scientific and technological talent. For the 2026 NSFC funding applications, the university invited national-level experts, including recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars, and Changjiang Scholars Program, to deliver special lectures, with 30 expert sessions in total. More than 40 outstanding young researchers were selected to participate in a one-week intensive training program, with relevant experts providing guidance throughout the process. Through various forms, including group presentations and one-on-one personalized guidance, the university has strengthened the cultivation of young scientific and technological talent, steadily advanced organized research, and laid a solid foundation for the high-quality development of the university’s scientific and technological undertakings.

Going forward, the university will focus on disciplinary development, guided by its 15th Five-Year Plan. It will plan and initiate actions early, continuously identify gaps and address shortcomings, and steadily strengthen its research foundation. The university will pay close attention to key steps such as refining grant proposals, deepen the development of organized research, and foster a nurturing environment for young research talent, striving to achieve new breakthroughs in next year’s applications for the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
